This loop is approximately 5.1 miles. It can be extended North one mile and south quite a bit. This is the 'unofficial' version. I may have to expand to 42nd or 38th to encompass the official re-development zone.

Start: 64th & Monon Trail, 52nd & Monon Trail, 52nd & Illinois, Riverview & 64th (You choose.)

5.28 Miles by my Odometer on bike.

South on the Monon.
West on 52nd Street.
North on Illinois Street.
North/NE on Riverview.
East on 64th.

6.78 Mile with North Riverview extension:

Continue North on Riverview rather than East on 64th.
Riverview will turn back South at 'Old' College Ave.
South on 'Old' College Ave.
East on 66th Street.
North on Ferguson Street.
East on 67th Street.
South on Monon Trail to 49th Street.

Repeat.

If you are looking for someone on the loop just ride it counter-clockwise and you'll find them a little sooner.

2011 Mayors Bike Ride

Come out and show the Mayor you support his bicycle friendly initiatives in Indianapolis. Mayor Ballard has taken great strides to incorporate a bicycle friendly agenda.

I for one respect this vision. It is inevitable the bicycle will become a larger part of the transportation landscape in all communities. Embrace the inevitable.

I vote on one platform that I believe has the ability to resonate with impact as big or bigger than any policy issue on the table and that is bicycling.

Bicycling knows no limits of race, creed nor religion. No socio-economic bounds. If you truly desire a bicycle...there is an operating bicycle available somewhere for free or next to free.

Sorry I was out biking last week!

Thanks to Indy Cog and all the organizations who participated to make Bike to Work Week/Day 2011 a resounding success.

It was quite evident there was increased bike traffic on both a commuter and recreational basis last week. As facilities provide a safe and secure commute and recreational experience, bicycling will grow and thrive in Indianapolis.

The new generation have embraced the independence that bicycle riding provides them, and the movement has begun for bicycles to gain their respective financial space in govermental/political discourse.

Endurance Ride - trainer

I'm working on getting an informal endurance ride scheduled each Saturday morning for those who are training for century rides, metrics, tri, or andy other endurance event.

This is not a competitive ride. This ride will be intended that riders find their comfort level, but keep up. Maximum of three stops during the 50-70 ride length unless circumstances deem. The intent is to complete the rides in a four hour range or close.

Damn...I couldn't abandon the bike/music theme once I saw the first one!

Get out and ride today!

Highs near 70 something and sunny should be a glorious day for a ride. I think 2011 will be a break-through year for bicycling. I put $4.xx gas in my car yesterday, so I know I won't be putting it to waste on frivolous trips anywhere.

I will however be making all sorts of frivolous trips on my bicycles. In fact, I will most likely acquire a fifth bicycle before I'll upgrade/replace my car.

2 Wheels 1 City - Bike Indy!

There was a good turnout for the Two Wheels One City event today. Put on by Freewheelin' Bikes, The Indy Cog, Indy Cycle Specialist, Sun King Brewery and probably some others...

Anyways, thanks to all who attended, participated and volunteered. Hopefully the guy who ran into the truck/van is okay...

Here are some pics I took from the Indy Cycle Specialist Bunny Hop Competition. These guys can fly a bike in the air. I could do this with my full-suspension bike, but these guys are doing it in skater shoes, skinny jeans, studded belts and t-shirts. I'm glad to see the progression along with the culture. I had a similar bike before there was even a BMX market. We just made our own with parts and frames.

Broad Ripple Bike Race - A success!

Local promoters planetadventurerace.com held a Tri Klassic Omnium beginning Friday. Friday races were held at night on Fort Benjamin Harrison, West Clay was the site of Saturday's races, and Broad Ripple Village host of the Sunday races.

Turn out was reasonable considering rain was a threat and all but present by the end of the racing.

The sun is peeking/peaking out - GET OUT AND RIDE!

It was a little hard to get the ride in today without getting wet, but I had a call that there was some $ sitting in an envelope waiting on me and the roads were dry so I took a quick ride.

The Last Hangover - Happy Anniversary!

I stopped imbibing last May 1, 2010 for many reasons.

The least of which was to complete a century ride. After the first ride of 65 miles I had concluded that I was finished consuming alcohol(rather than just 'stopping'.)

The fourth weekend I road around 120 miles.

I realized I could not reach any higher level of performance if I chose to continue to consume alcohol and put my body at that deficit. Further on this is a diet for performance.

Just as you would not load lard into the trunk of your car, nor add sugar or dirt to the gas tank and believe the performance or efficiency will improve...lard, sugar and dirt certainly won't help the human body perform any better.

Now my challenge is to stay clear of the car exhaust, second hand smoke, and all the ills posed upon us in the environment as a by-product of our own man-made consumption.

Ride every day when you're on your death bed you'll wish you had!

Criterium today at West Clay, 3:15 p.m.

Take the Monon Trail North to 146th Street then head West until you see West Clay. Enter the neighborhood and look for the "square".

Cars you can plug the address in your GPS, get out the bon bons and sit back relax it would only cost a few innocent lives to get you there! :)
